L E N T

Today I find myself in the 4th day of Lent and have my challenges pretty much set. Last night I attend Stations of the Cross at St Joseph’s followed by a simple bread and soup meal. To more deeply participate I have volunteered to provide the soup and bread for the group on the 21st of the month. I have altered my TV viewing so will concentrate on watching programs on the life of Christ or other spiritual concerns. I just finished viewing the 4th season of, “The Chosen,” again to prepare myself for the 5th season that should start airing on the 27th of March. As for fasting I will eat only bread on Wednesdays and will not eat between meals the rest of the week. My prayer life will continue as usual. I think I am, for the most part, a typical Catholic. I tell you this to give an idea of how for many Catholics Lent is celebrated. I attend confession a week ago and will do so again around Easter.

These photos show how season 4 of, “The Chosen,” ended with Jesus riding into Jerusalem.

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE: Last weekend Latah and I drove to Pebble Creek to spend Friday night and Saturday with the Lindseth’s. Teagan had a game to cheer at so didn’t join us. As always we had a fun family time just hanging out and being together. The weather was beautiful so on Saturday we all enjoyed our first bike ride of the year.

We always get fattened up at Pebble Creek and this visit followed suit. These hamburgers cooked over wood were the best ever.

Latah joined the DI (Destination Imagination) group again this year and has been working hours after school on their project. This past week they performed for the whole school where I attend the event. Then, on Saturday they participated in the Regional DI competition in Richland, WA. Their group’s hard work paid off. The “Awesome Opossums,” as they were known took first place in the science category.

Congratulations to the Awesome Opossums

We enjoyed a Fat Tuesday meal the night before Lent.

These are busy but fun days and best of all there are hints of spring just around the corner.
