PROMS & PLAYS

It is definitely the season for Proms and Plays. Times have changed, as is normal. Pictured above is me dressed for my last Prom and then my two beautiful granddaughters who attend their Proms recently, one week apart. In my day this was a very formal event. If you didn’t have a date you didn’t go. Today if you don’t have a date you simply gang up with friends and go anyway. Today’s way is so much better in that no one is excluded. Dressing up and taking photos is as much fun as the Prom its self.

The Prom event pictured here was held my freshman year in college. The beautiful dress I am wearing was on loan from a friend. I wasn’t planning attending as I didn’t have a date and I didn’t have a dress. My friends said, “No way.” by the end of the week they had both a date and a dress for me. I was attending an all girls college and I didn’t know any boys at that point and I certainly didn’t have the money to purchase a dress. I don’t know who took this photo. I remember my High School Senior Prom I wore a short red dress mom made for me. It was very pretty and I had a boyfriend at that time, so I was all set that year.

Sophie and Mia went to Banks Prom together. They had a great time. Sophie loved it in spite of her mishap.

Sophie’s Mishap:

Early on Prom day Sophie had a horse show to participate in with her horse Wrangler, who managed to step on her toe. So much for dancing.

Early in the day Sophe went to the stable to get Wrangle warmed up for the horse show.
Of all days, this had to happen on Prom day. That didn’t stop Sophie. Away she went.
Teagan went to Prom with her friend Eyeris who has a boyfriend but he didn’t want to attend. From left to right, Teagan’s friends: Lupe, Eyeris, Teagan, Jade, and Clair

Eyeris is great at doing nails and often practices on Teagan.

On a Different Note: It is also the season for plays. The Banks high school Drama Club put on the play, Peter Pan. Sam wasn’t in the play but two of his buddies were, so away the Lindseth family went to show there support and enjoy the performance. Also a co-director of the play happened to be one of Sophie’s dance partners at the dance club.

A couple years ago Sophie played the part of Athena at this place.
These boys are twins and have been friends of Sam’s for many years. They are good guys.

For the first time, this year Latah decided to participate in the Missoula Children’s Theater. Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) is the world’s largest touring children’s theatre. It brings original musical adaptations of classic fairy tales and children’s stories to communities worldwide, focusing on enriching young lives and creating memories through theater. MCT brings its professional team and all the equipment (set, lights, costumes, etc.) to a community, except for the cast. The actors are local children who participate in auditions and are cast in the show. Local students learn the play, music, staging, and cues, in just five days, culminating in community performances. Latah auditioned and was cast as the Queen in the story of, Sleeping Beauty. She did a great job and meeting until 7:30 every afternoon paid off, making the extra drive to Trout Lake worth it.

Latah’s classmate Richie played the King.
The Royal Family and their attendants.

This coming Sunday Latah, her friend Geneva, and I will be attending a play called, ” Circus Berzerkus—where the ordinary turns extraordinary! The story follows the world-weary Ringmaster, tired of the same old acts, the same old tricks, and the same old applause. One fateful night, as he dozes off under the big top, his dreams take over, and the circus spirals into a wild, topsy-turvy wonderland! Some of Latah and Geneva’s classmates are in the play. Latah’s good friend Lark who had a sleepover at our house Monday night, will be in the play, along with her older brother who will be riding a unicycle while juggling balls. It should be an exciting show.

A scene from Circus Berzekus apparently.
