Recapping Spring

As spring slid into summer I found myself thinking back what a busy time the last three months have been with one event right after the other. My greatest personal accomplishment was returning to the practice of giving blood. My entire adult life I have donated blood. They love to see me coming as I have generic B positive blood that most people can use. I was contributing to my 13th gallon when covid slowed things down, plus I developed a Pilonidal cyst infection which took three years to eradicate, at which time I ceased to donate. As of 2025 I am again donating blood which I have done twice so far this year.

RANDOM RECAP OF SPRING 2025:

Emerson’s first birthday party
Teagan’s job working a food cart
School project night for the public
Latah shows me her art work
Teagan’s culinary class baked up treats to share with the public

Three teachers at Teagan and Latah’s school retired and I was invited to their party. I enjoyed visiting with people I have not seen in years.

Bob and Ellen, friends of my nephew and his wife who live in Vancouver, joined me at St Joseph’s one day much to my surprise. I was happy to be able to spend a bit of time over coffee visiting with them after Mass. Other social events during spring, of which I have no photos but enjoyed, were an anniversary party for our priests at St Joseph’s. Kathy, a long time friend, joined me at my house for coffee and caramel rolls one day. I continue to enjoy visiting Rosemary on Tuesdays. I had a most pleasant surprise when two of my sixth grade students from 52 years ago stopped by to visit. Chris and his wife Dot live in Arkansas, and Jeff lives locally but I haven’t seen him until recently. I was pregnant with Taylor when these guys were in my class. Jeff had just moved here from Alaska that year with his family.

Chris’s wife Dot took this photo. They had been in Vancouver visiting family and stopped by my place on the way back to Arkansas. I had not seen Chris since he was my student. I recently saw Jeff for the first time at his mother’s memorial. What a pleasant surprise to see them again.

Teagan’s entire Junior class spent a week in Hawaii this spring. Trout Lake Junior class goes there every year. Teagan had a wonderful time. She and her friend Lupe visited a couple churches while there and sent photos my way. Latah kept herself busy this spring playing in the Columbia River and she continues to climb trees in my woods.

Teagan and Lupe were the only Catholic girls in the class so were on their own to find a church for Sunday Mass.

Latah still loves climbing trees
Taylor’s gang and I joined Dennis in watching the Strawberry Moon rise. It will be 20 years before the next one.

While Teagan was in Hawaii Taylor and Latah spent time cooling off in the Columbia River.

Sophie’s graduation party held on Father’s Day at Pebble Creek was a highlight for me but that event is for a future blog entry. Between 75 and 100 people attended before days end.

Sophie gave a, “short but sweet,” thank you for coming speech.

SPRING DISASTERS:

Both of Teagan and Latah’s cats died. One struck down in the road and the other mysteriously. Ziggy was buried at my place at the edge of the woods.

My cats brought three large snakes into the house.
I removed them to the woods.
I worry that they may not get the water they need out there.

We all have flat tires but when Jason’s gang has one they go all out, such as this flat on their camp trailer on their way to the beach.

Welcome to Summer 2025
