I am dedicating this entry to celebrate the life of my first grandchild, Sophie, who graduated from high school this year. Sophie has been a joy to us who share our lives with her, with all the ups and downs of a young girl experiencing the world, accepting and facing it head on. Sophie grew up on Pebble Creek Farm with her parents and brother.

I borrowed a video Sophie made for her graduation party held at the farm recently, recapping her life in photos depicting K-12th grade. Above is her video:
It wasn’t until high school that Sophie decided she loved the country life style and became involved with horses. She wanted riding lessons, so pretty much on her own, took on a job cleaning stables to pay her way into the horse world. I told her once that we can’t wait for life to happen. We have to make it happen and she does. Sophie isn’t afraid of hard work and I am proud of her. She steps up and does her part. Lots of preparations go into lawn parties as I am sure you all know very well. Two truck trips with my yard furniture made their way to Pebble Creek. A hundred guests had been invited and people need a comfortable place to sit. Sophie had made signs to show the way.
Sophie’s Graduation Party shared in photos:

I took photos early on and then put my phone away so didn’t get pictures of most of the people. I wanted to visit. Between 75 and 100 people came and went throughout the day. I enjoyed the day as people seemed relaxed and happy to just be outdoors enjoying their friends, neighbors, and families.

The younger crowd had various games going on. I even saw line dancing at one point. Some people enjoyed viewing the alpacas and other farm critters. Before long the day was over and the last guests made their way to the parking area. What a fun day. Sam invited some of his buddies to the party and one friend, Jack, decided to spend the night. They slept on the deck where I found them the next morning.

The following morning, besides Jack and me, Nanna and Papa were the only remaining guests at Pebble Creek. Jason had taken the day off from work and I stayed to help with clean up. Jeannette, Sophie and Sam head out somewhere to get a scale for weighing the 4-H pigs, after which Jeannette was to take the neighbor lady to her doctor appointment. In other words, life back to usual at Pebble Creek Farm. Firewood was delivered so cutting and storing it was soon in full progress. Sam purchased an old Chinese motorcycle he and Jack got busy restoring. Sophie, following her dream, purchased an older truck she had her eye on for some time. Oh, to be young and full of dreams.
