October is the month of the year when I need to update things and if necessary make changes. First thing I needed to do was apply for a new passport. My present one expires in March of 2025. If your passport needs changes or renewal don’t wait until you need it. It takes weeks and sometimes even months for government responses these days. My auto and home insurances start the new year in October, as does Medicare start the open-door period when you can make changes for the upcoming year. Lots to think about and the need to get it done if changes are needed. That’s where I am at right now.
Recently Latah, her mom Heather, and two friends of their’s spent time in Guatemala visiting Heather’s aunt and beyond. Heather’s Aunt Judy does missionary work there and has started a school that now educates over a thousand students enrolled. It was a great experience for them to visit a Guatemalan school, to try new foods, see different landscapes, and enjoy time on the beach watching the sunset in a tropical country that speaks a different language.

Latah said she very much enjoyed seeing school in a different country and loved how colorful the school was.

Celebrating Heather’s Birthday Dinner

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting a place where they participated in releasing baby turtles into the ocean.

A week ago a friend, Theresa, invited another friend Maria and me to her home on High Prairie located north of the Columbia River. We had not been there before and had a lovely visit, including home made turkey soup for lunch.

Both Mt Adams and Mt Hood can be seen from the property. We hiked up a ridge to view the rolling hills and distant vistas. What a pleasant afternoon. Again, Thank you Theresa.

Lately I have been busy cutting firewood and attending Teagan’s soccer and Latah’s volleyball games. Both season’s will be soon over. Teagan missed her last game as she is on vacation in Los Angeles for an extended weekend with her Aunt Christy. I attend Latah’s game and they did great winning both their rounds.

Taking a break from cutting firewood, a few hours ago I finished the weirdest puzzle ever, if you can call it finishing. I did the best I could.

Latah sneaked up on me the other day and caught me by surprise, jumping out from the brush. Little Stinker ! I finished assembling the weirdest puzzle this morning. It was beautiful and fun to work on but had some strange problems.
